HC Deb 10 February 1977 vol 925 cc816-8W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations have been made to him by the United Nations Council for Namibia concerning the violations of human rights taking place in Namibia under the illegal occupation of that territory by South Africa; and if he will raise in the Security Council as part of that Council's continuing concern with Namibia the question of death sentences passed on SWAPO leaders Aaron Mushimba and Hendrile Shikongo by the occupying administration.

Mr. Rowlands

Her Majesty's Government fully share the international concern that human rights should not be violated in Namibia; no direct representations, however, have been received from the United Nations Council on this subject. Her Majesty's Government have already made strong and urgent representations
