HC Deb 10 February 1977 vol 925 cc841-2W
Mr. Patrick Jenkin

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many of the applications made by doctors who wish to buy added years for an unreduced lump sum under the National Health Service Superannuation Scheme have still not been processed; and when he estimates that his Department will complete the processing.

Mr. Ennals

The total number of approaches received under these arrangements from staff of all groups is about 100,000, of which about 30,000 remain to be processed. It is estimated that about 12,000 of these are from doctors, but a more precise breakdown of the total figure would involve a disproportionate

basis for discussion, but they were not set out as formal proposals and it would be misleading to regard them as such. I hope that additional ideas will emerge in discussion.
