HC Deb 04 February 1977 vol 925 c444W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions have been made at the latest available date against motorists contravening the general 50 mph and 60 mph speed limits since the new regulations were introduced.

Dr. Summerskill

In England and Wales in 1975 the number of prosecutions for exceeding the temporary 50 mph and 60 mph speed limits—including those where the speed was above the previous limit of 70 mph—were 11,793 and 13,294 respectively. The figures for 1974 and 1976 are not available.
