HC Deb 03 February 1977 vol 925 cc282-3W
Sir John Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he has any special advisers on conservation of energy; and, if so, if he will give the names.

Dr. John A. Cunningham

The Advisory Council on Energy Conservation was set up in October 1974 to advise and assist me in promoting economy and efficiency in the use and consumption of energy. Its chairman is Professor Sir William Hawthorne and its membership is set out in Department of Energy Press Notice 41/76, a copy of which I am sending to the hon. Member. In addition, we receive advice on research and development on energy conservation from my right hon. Friend's Advisory Council on Research and Development, whose chairman is the Department's Chief Scientist, Dr. Walter Marshall, and from the Department's Energy Technology Support Unit at Harwell, which also reports through Dr. Marshall.
