§ Mrs. Chalkerasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what sums his Department has given in grants to voluntary bodies in each of the last three years; what he expects to grant in the financial year 1977–78; and if he will detail the type of projects currently being funded.
§ Mr. McElhoneIn respect of the amounts given in grants, I am unable to add to the information which I gave to the hon. Member on 11th November 1977.—[Vol. 938, c.265–266.] In general, grants are given towards the administrative costs of national voluntary organisations working in the fields of social work, youth and community work and health; for training purposes; towards the capital costs of certain new social work establishments and new or improved premises—including village halls and local community centres—for social and recreational activities; and towards the initial costs of experimental local social work projects likely to prove of benefit to other areas.
