HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 c409W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what sums his Department has given in grants to voluntary bodies in each of the last three years; what he expects to grant in the financial year 1977–78; and if he will detail the type of projects currently being funded.

Mr. McElhone

In respect of the amounts given in grants, I am unable to add to the information which I gave to the hon. Member on 11th November 1977.—[Vol. 938, c.265–266.] In general, grants are given towards the administrative costs of national voluntary organisations working in the fields of social work, youth and community work and health; for training purposes; towards the capital costs of certain new social work establishments and new or improved premises—including village halls and local community centres—for social and recreational activities; and towards the initial costs of experimental local social work projects likely to prove of benefit to other areas.
