HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 c595W
Mr. Michael McGuire

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects to be able to announce a firm date for the building of the hospital in Skelmersdale New Town; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moyle

It is not possible to give a firm date when building will start; capital programmes have necessarily to be flexible as the timing of individual schemes can be affected by a number of factors including the level of resources, the rate of progress with planning and the priorities selected by regional and area health authorities. The North-Western Regional Health Authority's current target date for starting this project is 1981–82.
