HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 cc555-6W
Mr. Michael McGuire

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether Skelmersdale New Town will be further considered for a Government Department because of its current rate of employment and the need to increase its job opportunities in the future.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

There are at present no plans to disperse Government work to Skelmersdale New Town. I repeat the assurance I gave my hon. Friend on 2nd March 1976—[Vol. 906, c. 550.]—that the interests of Skelmersdale, of the North-West and of the other assisted areas will, of course, continue to be borne in mind when the location of any new work or the relocation of existing work is under consideration.
