HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 c477W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether he will cause further investigation to be made by the Price Commission on the duty-free shops at London Airport, and in particular to investigate why they are able to sell spirits at £2.90 per litre bottle whereas on the ferry boats and Hovercraft the charges for the same branded goods for passengers en route to and from the same destinations cost as much as £3.20 and more per bottle.

Mr. Maclennan

Sales in duty-free shops are exports, and I see no reason to direct the Price Commission to examine them.
