§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the concern expressed by Salford Metropolitan Council Housing Committee and other local authorities over the delay of over 12 months before compulsory improvement of houses outside general improvement areas and housing 421W action areas can take place, involving 12 separate steps in the procedure, he will bring forward proposals for the simplification o; procedures, reducing the time scale to six months, and enabling councils to require improvement to the 10-point standard as requested.
§ Mr. ArmstrongThe Housing Green Paper Cmnd. 6851 recognised that the existing procedures for compulsory improvement were complex and cumbersome and proposed that they would be examined with a view to making them simpler and more effective. Consideration is now being given to the responses received.
