HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 c471W
Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if it is his policy to prevent the resale of military equipment sold by the United Kingdom to overseas countries; and what steps are taken to prevent such equipment from being passed on to third countries or subversive or gangster elements.

Dr. Gilbert

Government-to-Government sales agreements and some major firm-to-Government contracts contain sole-use clauses designed to ensure that British defence equipment sold abroad is not transferred to third parties, except in accordance with the United Kingdom's policy on arms sales.
