HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 c567W
Mr. Michael Spicer

asked the Secretary of State for Transport why he does not plan to extend the 30 miles per hour limit on the A435 northern entry to Evesham to the boundaries of the town at the top of Greenhill.

Mr. Horam

The criteria for a 30 m.p.h. speed limit are not met on this stretch of road. The existing 40 m.p.h. limit is appropriate. To introduce lower limits than can be properly justified results in their being ignored by the majority of drivers, thereby making enforcement difficult and bringing all speed limits into disrepute.
