Mr. Michael Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many hospital closures he has confirmed based on recommendations of regional health authorities during the calendar year 1977.

Mr. Moyle

Proposals for the closure of health buildings which are not agreed by the relevant community health council require my right hon. Friend's approval before they can be implemented. He approved 15 such proposals in the period 1st January to 30th November 1977.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many recommendations for hospital closures from regional health authorities have been revoked by his decision during the calendar year 1977.
