Dr. McDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how much was spent on employment services, industrial training, redundancy fund payments and other labour market services in 1976–77.

The estimated expenditure during the financial year ended 31st March 1977 is as folows:

Employment Services £96.9 millions
Industrial Training £256 millions
Redundancy Fund Payments £101.1 millions
Other Labour Market Services £ 141.2 millions

The figures for employment services include £2.7 million for recruitment subsidies for school leavers and the youth employment subsidy whilst that for other labour services includes £128.7 million in respect of the temporary employment subsidy, the job creation programme and the job release scheme.
