HC Deb 13 December 1977 vol 941 c159W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the total number of jobs lost at Glenfield and Kennedy, Kilmarnock; how many of the redundant workers have been found other employment; and how many apprentices have been made redundant.

Mr. Gregor MacKenzie

Some 450 jobs will be provided by the new company, Glenfield & Kennedy (Valves) Ltd., a reduction of about 570. I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that on 18th November 136 former employees were known to have obtained other work and 280 were unemployed. No apprentices were made redundant.
