HC Deb 09 December 1977 vol 940 c929W
Mrs. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what further measures he proposes to assist or encourage employers to take on disabled people.

Mr. John Grant

I am advised by the Manpower Services Commission that it is carrying out a long-term visiting campaign to encourage employers to adopt the six major guidelines of "Positive Policies", the guide to employing disabled people which was issued in May to some 55,000 employers. The guide provides information about the assistance which the rehabilitation and resettlement service can give to employers. A further publicity campaign about "Positive Policies" is currently being undertaken. The Commission has also recently drawn up a programme of developments in its employment and training services for disabled people over the next 5–10 years. The programme, which includes a substantial number of proposals for improvements and developments and gives indications of relative priorities, will be published in the New Year.
