854Wthe year 1971–72 the average taxable income from all sources other than their main NHS employment of part-time, including maximum part-time, consultants was £2,755. The effect of distinction awards upon private practice income was not investigated by the Review Body.
§ Mr. Stoddartasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give an assurance that the differential between part-time consultants and those consultants who have committed themselves full-time to the National Health Service will be maintained in any new consultants' contract negotiated with the British Medical Association.
