§ 32. Mr. Radiceasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government will raise the case of Yuri Orlov with the Soviet authorities at the Belgrade Review Conference.
§ Mr. LuardThe Government fully sympathise with the concern felt by my hon. Friend and others about the case of Yuri Orlov. As my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister made clear in the House on 24th November, the Government have from time to time made a number of representations about certain cases, and will continue to do so. The Soviet Government can be in no doubt of our attitude towards this matter. But I do not think it would be helpful to give details of these representations, which are more likely to be effective if they are made privately.
