HC Deb 07 December 1977 vol 940 c769W
25. Mr. Hugh Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will give an assurance that representatives of the people of the Falkland Islands will be fully involved in the forthcoming official talks with the Argentine Republic.

Mr. Rowlands

The new councils discussed this at their first joint meeting. They accepted my invitation to meet me for a full discussion after the New York talks, and considered that this would provide a welcome opportunity to consider future developments and to consult on the question of the nature and timing of islander representation in any future rounds.

37. Mr. Ogden

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on what date the next round of discussions concerning the future of the Falkland Islands will begin with the Government of Argentina.

Mr. Rowlands

The next round of Anglo-Argentine negotiations over the Falkland Islands will be held from 13th to 15th December.

39. Sir Bernard Braine

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what subjects will be on the agenda for the forthcoming Anglo-Argentine talks on the future of the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Rowlands

As I said in the House on 13th July—[Vol. 935, c. 405–9]—the topics for discussion are set out in the terms of reference which were announced on 26th April.
