asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on his talks with the Chinese Trade Minister.

My right hon. Friend had a wide-ranging and friendly discussion with Mr. Li Ch'iang on 29th November. We agreed that there were good prospects for increased trade between Britain and China. His visit represents an important step in the development of our relations with China.
