Mr. Goodlad

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he has any plans for change of use of the Grange Hospital, Weaverham;

(2) if he expects Northwich Victoria Infirmary to be converted into a community-type hospital in the near future; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moyle

I understand that the Cheshire Area Health Authority will shortly be issuing a consultative document outlining a number of strategic options for hospital developments in the Crewe health district, and that the future of the Grange Hospital and the Northwich Victoria Infirmary will be among the questions discussed. A copy of this document will be sent to the hon. Member.

The authority will be considering the various options in the light of comments received.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what were the running costs in 1976–77 of (a) Leighton Hospital, (b) Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, and (c) the Oakmere Rehabilitation Centre.

£6,606,993, £69,170 and £105,167 respectively.

Mr. Goodlad

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average waiting period between the referral by a general practitioner and the commencement of rehabilitation treatment for orthopaedic and stroke patients at district general hospitals in each of the five districts of the Cheshire Health Area and each of the other health districts from which day patients and in-patients are currently attending Oakmere Rehabilitation Centre.
