HC Deb 29 April 1977 vol 930 c451W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the recent derailment near Newmarket of a late night freight train.

Mr. Horam

The derailment of a freight train near Kennett shortly before midnight on Friday 15th April has been reported by the Eastern Region of British Railways. There were no casualties, but there was some damage to the track, which was not reopened until 18.30 on Sunday 17th April. The derailment was caused by a loose tyre on a mineral wagon and no inquiry is being held.
