§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will name the European countries in respect of 451W travel to which British motorists do not now require to obtain a green card for insurance purposes;
(2) if there are any negotiations to extend the countries in respect of travel to which green cards for insurance are unnecessary to include Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey.
§ Mr. HoramAn EEC directive provides for travel between member States without the need for green card insurance. These arrangements have been extended to Austria, Czechoslovakia, Finland, the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland, but I am not aware of any proposal to extend them to other countries.
§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Transport what minimum motor insurance cover applies in each of the countries which do not require a green insurance card from British insurers.
§ Mr. HoramThe information will take a little while to compile. I will write to the hon. Member as soon as it is ready.
