§ Mr. Macfarlaneasked the Secretary of State for Energy what progress has been made in investigating the Severn barrage scheme following the Chief Scientist's comments during a lecture he gave the British Nuclear Energy Society on 28th September 1976.
§ Mr. EadieThe Department has commissioned two specific studies related to a Severn barrage, the first being an assessment of the effect of a barrage on the tidal regime and the second being a study of the problems of making a closure. These studies are now complete and it is my intention to publish the results in the near future.
