HC Deb 26 April 1977 vol 930 cc269-70W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he has had any recent consultations with President Carter or his administration about the effects of united States nuclear policy on the British nuclear industry; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eadie

My right hon. Friend discussed this matter with the United States Secretary for Energy, Mr. Schlesinger, and other members of the United States administration in Washington on 4th-5th April. Talks were wide ranging and included non-proliferation, reprocessing, uranium supplies and future collaboration and consultation between the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what plans he has for Anglo American talks on nuclear energy matters; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eadie

British and United States Ministers and officials have been in close touch on these matters for some time and this will continue.

Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what regard he has to international policies on nuclear energy when determining policy for Great Britain; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eadie

This is one of the factors which my right hon. Friend takes into account.
