HC Deb 25 April 1977 vol 930 c262W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action he will take to allow local authorities to give special financing help to young mentally and physically disabled persons to train on courses not covered by the Department of Education and Sciences grants.

Mr. Moyle

I sympathise with the hon. Member's desire to assist mentally and physically disabled persons to receive training, but I am not clear as to which courses, not covered by education or employment interests, she refers. Local social services authorities are not empowered to give grants for training, but I should be glad to look into any particular case she has in mind.
