§ Mr. Warrenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give the technical reasons why more low-power local broadcasting facilities, including Citizens Band services, cannot be introduced in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. JohnThe Government propose, in the light of the recommendations in the Annan Report on the Future of Broadcasting, to consider whether, and, if so how, more low-power local broadcasting stations might be provided. But Citizens Band radio is not a broadcasting service and I would refer the hon. Member to the replies given to the hon. Member for Lewes (Mr. Rathbone) on 19th October 1976—[Vol. 917, c. 368]—and to my hon. Friend the Member for Derby, North (Mr. Whitehead) on 21st October 1976.—[Vol. 917, c. 1634–5.]
