HC Deb 25 April 1977 vol 930 cc262-3W
Mr. Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in the last year for which figures are available, how many children and adults, respectively, who were in receipt of lower-rate attendance allowance (a) died, (b) had the allowance withdrawn completely, and (e) were transferred to the higher rate.

Mr. Alfred Morris

In the year ended 31st March 1977 attendance allowance at the lower rate ceased in (a) 12,331 cases because of the death of the disabled person; (b) 1,635 cases because of termination of the certificate; and (e) 5,028 cases because of an award of attendance allowance at the higher rate. It is regretted that the split of these figures between children and adults is not available.
