HC Deb 07 April 1977 vol 929 cc654-5W
Mr. Hayhoe

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what reduction in the standards of hospital services for those living and working locally would result from the closure of the Hounslow and Brentford hospitals;

(2) whether he will take action to maintain standards of hospital service for patients in the constituency of the hon. Member for Hounslow, Brentford and Isleworth by intervening to prevent the closure of Hounslow and Brentford hospitals.

Mr. Moyle

There will be no reduction in the standards of hospital services. I will write to the hon. Member about the alternative provisions to be made available. Since Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow Area Health Authority (Teaching) has carried out the full consultation procedures as prescribed by my Department and the Community Health Council has agreed to the authority's proposal to close both hospitals, there is no reason for my right hon. Friend to intervene.
