HL Deb 28 September 1976 vol 374 cc386-7WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

For which cuts in the Social Fund of the EEC they have voted and why.

Lord JACQUES

None. The Council has, when adopting draft budgets for several years past, reduced the rate of increase proposed by the Commission for the European Social Fund but, following completion of the procedures laid down in the Treaty of Rome, the budgets, as adopted by the Assembly, have included increased provision for the Social Fund each year since the New Social Fund was introduced in 1972.
