HL Deb 27 October 1976 vol 376 c617WA
Lord SUDELEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What will be the total extent of Soviet occupied property, including accommodation for families, if the Soviet proposals are accepted for acquisition by the Soviet Government of property in Kensington to supplement present Soviet Embassy accommodation.

Lord GORONWY-ROBERTS

The Soviet proposals for the development of Nos. 1 to 7 Kensington Palace Gardens and the Kensington Barracks site have not yet been presented as the basis of a planning notification. Until they are so presented it is not possible to say what would be the total extent of Soviet occupied property if they were accepted.

It is Her Majesty's Government's understanding that the development plans are intended to provide alternative and not supplementary accommodation for the Soviet Embassy.
