§ Mr. Maddenasked the Secretary of State for Energy what training is given 51W to supervisors participating in the roof insulation scheme, through the Job Creation Programme and his Department.
§ Dr. John A. CunninghamThe insulation manufacturers will provide special one-day training courses for the supervisors of insulation projects for local authorities under the Job Creation Programme. The training provisions for each project must be approved by the Job Creation Programme area committee, on which trade unionists, employers and local authorities are represented. General guidance on precautions in the use of insulating materials has been obtained from the Health and Safety Executive.

CunninghamUp to 6th October, 25 applications have been received from local authorities to Job Creation Programme area committees giving an estimated total of 302 new jobs if all proposed schemes are accepted. My Department is aware of a number of other schemes being considered by local authorities, and the final figure is expected to be much higher.
