HL Deb 21 October 1976 vol 375 cc1655-6WA
Lord TAYLOR

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much money will be saved per annum if the decision to close the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital is implemented; and how much money would be saved per annum if the same number of beds were closed at the Parent District Hospital.

Lord WELLS-PESTELL

There has been no final decision to close Uxbridge Cottage Hospital (24 beds); the decision is in principle only and subject to consultation. The current cost per annum is £103,000. The average cost of a 30 bedded ward at the Parent District Hospital is £41,000. The proposal is to absorb the workload of the former into the remaining hospitals in the area.
