§ Mr. Kenneth Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has received the report of the Law Commission on the matrimonial jurisdiction of the magistrates' courts; what has caused the delays in the production of this report; and whether the Government intend to introduce legislation on the subject.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe report has been received and is published today. This is a wide and difficult subject which needed prolonged consideration and consultations. The report is a most valuable one and I am very grateful to the Law Commissioners for the time they have devoted to this important task. I hope to be able to make a further statement shortly about future action on the report.
