HC Deb 21 October 1976 vol 917 cc513-4W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will issue a circular to local authorities advising them that, where a tenanted building not owned by the authority is to be partially demolished by the authority as a consequence of the posting of a dangerous structure notice and in the absence of necessary works by the landlord, the tenants should be rehoused by the local authority prior to the commencement of demolition work.

Mr. Freeson

In the case of partially demolished buildings, the need for rehousing depends on the individual circumstances and it would not, therefore, be appropriate to issue general advice on the lines suggested. If the hon. Member has a particular case in mind, I shall be interested to receive details.
