HL Deb 14 October 1976 vol 375 c641WA
Lord KENNET

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will request Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland to include in his report for 1976 and all subsequent years a chapter on the offshore duties and activities of the police forces for which he is responsible.

The MINISTER of STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (Lord Kirkhill)

I understand that Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary intends to include in his 1976 report a passage on the offshore duties undertaken by the police. These duties relate entirely to oil installations, are confined to two Forces and constitute a very small fraction of total police activity. It is for Her Majesty's Chief Inspector to decide the way in which his annual report, will from time to time, deal with this topic.
