HL Deb 04 October 1976 vol 374 c1070WA
Lord WIGODER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps have been taken to ensure the confidentiality of information in the Criminal Records Office.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

All criminal record offices have appropriate instructions for ensuring the confidentiality of the information they hold. I am informed that the chief officers of police responsible for the criminal record offices in London and Bristol have appointed senior officers to investigate the recent alleged improper disclosures of information from those offices, and we will consider in the light of their reports whether any further guidance needs to be given.
