HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c935W
Mr. O'Halloran

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what representations he has received from the Northern Ireland TUC regarding unemployment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Concannon

Since the beginning of June this year, unemployment in Northern Ireland has been among the topics discussed at four meetings between Northern Ireland Office Ministers and representatives of the Northern Ireland Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. It was also discussed at a meeting between the Committee and my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 7th October. The Committee has been made aware of the importance which the Government attach to reducing the burden of unemployment which Northern Ireland has borne for so long.
