HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 cc950-1W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will extend the Aids for Work Scheme operated by the Employment Services Agency to cover equipment needed by schoolchildren; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Grant,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 19th November], gave the following information:

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the Employment Service Agency's aids to employment scheme is operated under the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act 1944 and is specifically to enable severely disabled people to obtain or keep paid employment. The provision of equipment for schoolchildren during their education is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science, but the scheme already assists disabled school leavers entering employment.
