HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c950W
Mr. Canavan

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the numbers of people starting and completing apprenticeships in Scotland for each of the past 10 years and the breakdown of these figures into trades, industries, etc.

Mr. Golding

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the information is not obtainable other than at disproportionate cost. Whilst industrial training boards generally have figures for those doing ITB recommended apprenticeship training, there are a large number of young people receiving apprenticeship training which is other than ITB recommended and likewise there are a considerable number whose employers are outside the scope of the training boards.

Mr. Gordon Wilson
