HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c937W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons have benefited from remission of sentence since the Treatment of Offenders Order came into effect.

Mr. Concannon

Between 1st March 1976 and 17th October 1976, 1,337 prisoners were released with remission of sentence. Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how many prisoners in prison in Northern Ireland have been granted 50 per cent. remission of sentence since the new parole scheme was introduced to date;

(2) how many prisoners in Northern Ireland prisons normally resident in County Armagh have been granted 50 per cent. remission of sentence; and if he will list the crimes of which they were found guilty;

(3) how many prisoners in prison in Northern Ireland have been refused 50 per cent. remission of sentence since the introduction of his new parole scheme to date.

Mr. Concannon

I will write to the hon. Member.
