HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c817W
Mr. Forman

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the discount rate used by the Government when estimating the future costs of developing a commercial fast reactor; and what discount rate has been used by the Government when calculating the costs of developing successive types of thermal reactor.

Mr. Eadie

The discount rate used for investment by Government and the nationalised industries is 10 per cent. in real terms. This rate is currently under review. Before 1969 it was 8 per cent.
