asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of total expenditure on motorways in each of the last five years can be attributed to Scotland.

Expenditure on new construction of trunk road motorways in Great Britain for the last four years from 1972–73 was £1249 million, £144.6 million, £150.7 million and £208.9 million, of which expenditure in Scotland was £10.5 million, £5.4 million, £7.3 million and £14.4 million—which does not include expenditure on local authority motorways, including those in Glasgow.
