HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 cc928-9W
37. Mr. Litterick

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he is satisfied that the British car industry is obtaining its component supplies in a way which gives maximum benefit to Britsh industry and the level of employment in Great Britain.

Mr. Alan Williams

It is for British car companies to exercise their own commercial judgment in the purchase of components end supplies but our home car companies to buy a very substantial part of their requirements from British firms to the general benefit of British industry and the level of employment in Great Britain. I hope that all British companies will do this to the maximum extent possible.
