§ Lord JACQUESThere would be no saving to the Mint, who under the Trading Fund arrangements are paid by the Treasury to produce the United Kingdom coinage. The Treasury receive face value from the clearing banks, and, since this is more than the cost, no saving would result if minting were discontinued.
