HL Deb 16 November 1976 vol 377 cc1275-6WA
Lord VAIZEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will take steps to correct their reply to the Question on members' honoraria for the Research Councils and the Arts Council printed in Column 1618 of the Official Report for 29th July 1976, in view of the facts given in a subsequent official publication A Directory of Paid Public Appointments made by Ministers.

The MINISTER of STATE, DEPARTMENT of EDUCATION and SCIENCE (Lord Donaldson of Kingsbridge)

The noble Lord's Question of 29th July was not about honoraria but concerned sessional allowances and expenses. Most members of Research Councils receive yearly honoraria, the current rate for which is £750. This is in respect of their professional services as members of the Councils.
