§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will define the powers and duties and terms of reference of the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate.
§ Mr. BennThe Nuclear Installations Inspectorate is part of the Health and Safety Executive whose functions are derived from the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Inspectors are appointed 339W by the Health and Safety Executive to carry into effect the relevant statutory provisions within its field of responsibility and have powers which are specified in the Act. The Nuclear Installations Inspectorate is mainly concerned with the execution and enforcement of the relevant statutory provisions which govern the licensing and inspection of nuclear installations.
