Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many persons were directly employed in Scotland in offshore oil-related work in August 1976.

Mr. Golding

The number of workers employed at 31st August 1976 in companies in Scotland wholly engaged in activities related to the offshore oil industry was estimated to be 26,600.

This figure does not include workers employed in companies only partially engaged in such work nor those in the construction industry.
