HL Deb 08 November 1976 vol 377 cc169-70WA
Lord CHELWOOD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will confirm or deny the truth of the statement by a spokesman for the Soviet Embassy on 18th September, the day the Katyn memorial to some 15, 000 murdered Poles was unveiled, that Nazi responsibility for this crime was settled at the Nuremberg trials.

The MINISTER of STATE, FOREIGN and COMMONWEALTH OFFICE (Lord Goronwy-Roberts)

The final judgment of the Nuremberg Tribunal made no reference to responsibility for the Katyn massacre.
