HC Deb 04 November 1976 vol 918 c699W
Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, in view of the fact that the residents of Meadow Street, Larne, have had their homes flooded and damaged, what steps he is now going to take to prevent such flooding in the future; and what arrangements he has made to pay compensation to these tenants.

Mr. Carter

Investigations into the cause of the flooding following the recent heavy rain are still continuing. When they are complete I hope it will be possible to take steps to prevent a recurrence of the flooding. As regards compensation I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to his Question on 1st November 1976.—[Vol. 918, c.475]

Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, in view of the fact that residents of Carson Street, Lame, had his home severely damaged by flooding, what steps he is now going to take to prevent such flooding in the future; and what arrangement he has made to pay compensation.

Mr. Carter

Investigations into the cause of the flooding following the recent heavy rain are still continuing. Present indications are that responsibility does not rest with any Government Department. As regards compensation I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to his Question on 1st November 1976.—[Vol. 918, c.475]
