HC Deb 02 November 1976 vol 918 c563W
Mr. Park

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will make a statement about the dispute between Her Majesty's Stationery Office and members of the Society of Graphical and Allied Trades, which is affecting work at the London supply warehouses of HMSO.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

SOGAT members employed by HMSO at the Wembley and Alperton warehouses are refusing to honour the terms of a house agreement providing for flexible working between one job or section and another. As a result the throughput at these warehouses has been very seriously disrupted since October. After due warning, HMSO has told officials of the union that as from 26th October the staff concerned will not be paid until flexible working is restored. At present it does not seem that the work of either House or of Government Departments will be greatly affected; but I am keeping the situation under close review.
